Pregnancy editors have been very good about responding to pitches. They don't pay as well as other national glossies (betweem .70 - $1/word) and have an ugly contract. The editors are really pleasant to work with, though, and edits, in my experience, are light. Another plus from some writer's POV: they offer a direct deposit option, which gets the money to you faster. They also pay on acceptance.
